Jax came to SacRDR after a Good Samaritan reached out about a neighbor whose dog had given birth to an accidental litter of seven Pit Bull/Mastiff puppies. The neighbor loved her dog and the now 9-week-old puppies, but was having trouble rehoming them all. She was struggling with mental illness, the conditions in her home were deteriorating, and after receiving an eviction notice, she claimed she would be taking the remaining puppies to a shelter if another option wasn’t found quickly. The shelter is no place for any dog, but especially a small puppy, so SacRDR intervened before Jax could wind up in jail through no fault of his own.
Being part Mastiff, Jax will likely grow up to be a pretty big guy! He’s playful and loves learning from his canine foster brother, but is just as content spending some mellow time relaxing with his humans. Though he initially tried to play with the resident cat, he accepts correction and is respectful of boundaries.
